In Tikhvin, the birthplace of Rimsky-Korsakov, a monument to the composer was inaugurated. The event for a small town in the Leningrad region is historic. In 1944, the House-Museum opened its doors for visitors to the centennial of the musician. And only in the XXI century a monument appeared.

It is placed in the city center. There is a bronze figure of the composer on the pedestal, below - one of the heroes of his operas - Sadko. Moscow sculptor Vasily Selivanov, author of the monuments to Kozma Minin in Bogorodsk, Leo Tolstoy in Pushkin and Prince Svyatoslav the Brave in Serpukhov worked on the composition.

The monument was unveiled in Tikhvin as part of the Rimsky-Korsakov International Opera Festival.
