OPENING OF A MONUMENT TO MAYAKOVSKY IN PUSHKINO

05 April 2012

The monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky was opened in Pushkino. In the 90s of XX century the monument to the poet, standing in the same place, was destroyed, and the surrounding square was in disrepair.

And so the poet "returned" to Pushkino, where he rested for many years and which he perpetuated in his famous poem "Extraordinary adventure, happened with Vladimir Mayakovsky in summer at the dacha".

The author of a bronze bust on a granite pedestal was People's Artist of Russia Nikolay Selivanov and his son Vasily. And the main merit in the restoration of the monument to the poet belongs to a local priest, Archpriest Andrey Dudarev - rector of Panteleimon's church, a great connoisseur and lover of Russian poetry. It was him who managed to convince the leadership of the district and residents of the city of the importance of the conceived, was engaged in the search for funds, coordinated the whole process.

At the solemn ceremony of opening of the monument there were many fans of poetry. It was attended by representatives of the city administration, local poets, singer of the Pushkin Musical Theatre Yury Lazar, as well as guests from Moscow: Director of the Moscow Regional State Children's Library Olga Kubyshkina, Secretary of the Moscow Regional Organization of the Union of Writers of Russia Igor Vityuk, Senior Researcher of the Institute of World Literature Alexei Zimenkov and many others.

The head of the Pushkinsky district Victor Lisin informed the audience that next year it will be 120 years since the birth of Vladimir Mayakovsky, and Pushkino will become one of the centers of the jubilee events.
